Motch Moments: Labor Day Isaac

Charlotte got to experience her first Hurricane. We found out the week before Labor Day weekend that Hurricane Isaac was coming our way. Luckily it was only a Category 1, so we decided to stay and ride it out. It has been awhile since I've been home for a hurricane. The best way to explain it is your house feels like a car does when it is going throw a car wash machine. We were very fortunate our house and properties had no damage, just a lot of branches down, etc. We did however lose power the night of the storm around 4am and didn't get it back until 6 days later! My parents had some damage to their house during the storm but never lost power so they took Addison, Charlotte and I in when the heat got too bad to be at home.

True to New Orleans tradition we brought Charlotte to her first Hurricane party. We all had Tuesday off to prepare for the storm so after we got our house ready we headed over to the Gaudins for the hurricane party.

I was very lucky that Charlotte slept the whole night when the Hurricane hit. However, since the storm took forever to move on she got to experience the winds, etc throughout the next morning.

When it was safe we opened the front door to get a breeze in the house. I told Charlotte she could not go past the front door. She went and got her rocking chair and set it up right in entrance of the doorway - smart girl!!
